I’m back! It seems ages since I last posted.
First of all – a very belated Happy New Year! It seems like a long time ago now, but I do hope you had a wonderful festive season.
In case you missed my last post just before Christmas, I’ve been having a break for the long Australian summer holidays. I had my Mum out from England for much of that and I’ve had a wonderful time with her, exploring the local sights and generally chilling out. The only sad thing is that my Husband, Peter, wasn’t able to join us on some of the outings as a full day out was just too tiring for him and left him too sore (after his Paragliding accident in October).
I am really pleased to be able to tell you though that he is healing really well (amazingly well). He’s finally out of his wheelchair and walking tentatively on crutches. It’s now just a matter of time and hard work (Physio) to get walking properly again. We’re swimming every other day which is brilliant therapy and we’ve also just bought a recumbent bike/rower too to help improve strength (so you can see there’s no excuse for me either to get a bit of the fitness back that I’ve lost since the accident!).
Now it feels exciting to be thinking about music once again – a bit like a new term back at school – clean uniform, sharp pencils and a few blank note books. I will need to ease gently back into singing so as not to damage my vocal chords, but apart from that, I should be able to quickly get my head and heart back into writing and recording.
You may remember that before Peter’s accident I was working with Mike Raine on recordings for a new album, so that is something I now need to look at afresh, see where we got to and work out how and where to pick it up again. I’m looking forward to sharing with you my progress and new music along the way.
I have a few new plans for 2018. I would love to start doing a bit of live performance and have a few thoughts around this which I’ll share with you as things become more concrete.
The only thing that’s left for me to say in this newsletter is a big Thank You for hanging in with me over the past 3 months – I am very grateful for all your support and for the many kind words that I’ve received – Peter too.
So, onwards and upwards – bring on 2018!
I’ll leave you with a few photos that I’ve taken over the past few weeks showing some of the beautiful Tasmanian Scenery.
