Analysis Paralysis in a Manner of Speaking

I hope this post finds you well.  I know many of you, even though it is winter here, are experiencing incredible heatwaves at the moment and I hope you are managing to stay cool!

Today I thought I’d talk to you about Spotify.

Once a month I receive a report from Spotify which breaks down which of my songs have been streamed and the demographics of my audience, which is always very interesting.

In July the highest number of streams of my songs was in the USA and Turkey, followed by Italy and the UK.   I find it fascinating that month after month Turkey continues to rank highly, as I haven’t made any concerted effort to reach out to listeners from that country.

My most streamed song for the past few months has been “In a Manner of Speaking”, which you might remember is myself and Mike Raine’s cover version of a classic Winston Tong track.

I wasn’t sure at first whether or not I should be disappointed that my most streamed song is one of my cover songs and not one of my originals, but then a member of my Beach House Facebook Group pointed out to me that it is positive that there are people who like myself and Mike Raine’s interpretation of the song.

He also pointed out that, because people are slow to try and like new things, it is a great way to start building an audience for my own songs.

I really appreciated his words as it has helped change the way I think about it.

Anyway, here is the track on Spotify for those of you who haven’t heard it before.  And, if you like it, please do share it and add it to your own Spotify Playlists.

In a Manner of Speaking

Next time I write I’ll share with you how my second album of original music is progressing.

It’s always a little frustrating that I have to be patient with the process of creating an album as I’d love to share the songs with you as soon as I write them, but I know that I wouldn’t be doing justice to them if I did that.

So, until next time take care,

Laini xx
