Oh dear – what a week last week with lots of hospital and specialist appointments all round! I have to admit, this period of recovery for Peter following foot surgery has been quite challenging, not helped by the fact that our gorgeous pooch “Ziggy” has also had to have paw surgery and so I’ve been nursemaid to both.

As spring is around the corner here in Tasmania though and both are healing well, it feels as though we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  My music has been put on hold for a while, but despite that I’ve been able to release a single I finished recording just before Peter went in for surgery. I wrote this song while noodling away on my guitar during our short break in a holiday beach house in Southern Tasmania in February (my birthday treat). It was such a relaxing place and yes, it had a yellow settee . I hope you enjoy it.

Myself and Peter have a lot of musical tastes in common; but, whereas I’ll often gravitate towards the happy and bouncy, Peter gravitates towards the slow and melancholy.  And so, when I was asking friends and family to choose album singles for me, it came as no surprise that ‘Sweet Suffering’ was Peter’s favourite.

And so, as he sits with his foot elevated (post surgery) I thought it only right that I release this today so that he can add it to his “recovery playlist” ?.

Well, we’ve moved quickly into winter here in Tasmania – it’s been cold and wet and snow is on the mountain.  I should add that when I say mountain I mean “Kunyani” (Mount Wellington) which lies directly behind Hobart and is the city’s dominant feature.  My favourite item in the house at the moment is the wood heater.

Talking of which, I had a lesson from Peter this week in wood chopping.  Why?  Well, Peter heads into hospital next week for further (hopefully final) foot surgery and I will be his full time carer for 2-3 months while he sits with his foot elevated.  This also means, however, that unless I can chop wood, we won’t be able to keep warm, so it’s kind of crucial.  After 3 failed attempts at splitting a log, however, Peter decided we didn’t need any further foot injuries in the household, and so he abandoned the lessons and headed straight to “Bunnings” (Australia’s largest DIY retailer) and bought me an electric wood splitter.  Now the wood splitter is my favourite item.

And so, back to music.  Last time I wrote I promised you that I’d share a new music video for “Oceania” with you and so here it is.  I really hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
