Wherever you are – either sweltering up in the northern hemisphere heatwave, still in shorts and t-shirt up in the more northern parts of Australia, or cosied up to a warm fire down here in Tasmania (it was only 7C inside the boat when I got up yesterday!) I hope it’s been a good week for you.
For me it’s been one of completions. The listening phase of the cover project I’ve been working on with Mike Raine is finally over, the mastering has been done, and the album artwork is almost complete. Everything is looking and sounding great and I can’t wait to start sharing the music with you.
Despite all these really positive things, I’ve been feeling a bit low this week. It happened to me when the recording and production phase of my debut album was coming to a close too, so I do recognise it and know it will pass. I think it happens because after weeks and weeks of hard work, there suddenly seems to be a void.
At least I know what I need to do – different things for a few days to rejuvenate myself – concentrate on the refurbishment of Dream Catcher (which I’ve been sadly neglecting) and lots of fresh air and walking (although Eleanor, my singing teacher, has also reminded me that I can concentrate on my singing and piano practice – what a task master!). There’s one thing for sure – I’ll bounce back rejuvenated and enthusiastic and ready to start thinking about my next project.
This week though, I’d love to share with you the front cover album artwork designed by Mike Raine – I absolutely love it and hope you do too.
Until next time, take care
Laini xx
