Last week I promised I would fill you in on how the shooting of my music video for ‘Human Behaviour’ went this week.
As you know I was very nervous last week as I knew that, to re-create the vision I had for the movie, I’d need to perform in ways that I’ve never done before, really stretching myself.
Well, I rocked up at Mike’s on Monday afternoon, costumes in hand (after spending quite a few fun hours trawling the Op Shops here in Hobart) and choreography in my head.
As an aside, did I tell you that everything gets shortened here in Australia – Opportunity Shops (Charity Shops) become “Op Shops” like the “Good Sammies” (Good Samaritans) and “Vinnies” (St Vincent de Paul).
In fact, if you want to speak like a True Blue Aussie, you just have to abbreviate everything. For example “barbie” = barbecue, “arvo” = afternoon (an extension of which is “s’arvo” = this afternoon) “dunny” = toilet, “stubby” = small bottle of beer etc. etc. etc.
Anyway, I digress – back to the music video.
We set up the green screen and after 3 hours had managed to shoot half of the video, by which time we realised we were starting to rush and starting to feel pretty tired, so we decided to call it a day.
It would have been great to have been able to finish in one session, but it is quite a complex movie and we’ll be glad we’ve taken our time.
Sadly, we won’t be able to get together again until a week next Monday, but on the bright side, it will give me even more time to polish up my performance for the part we haven’t yet shot.
I’m really looking forward to sharing this movie with you as soon as it is complete.
In the meantime, I’m excited about sharing with you, next Friday, the music video for my 3rd album single ‘Somewhere’.
Until then, take care
Laini xx
