It has been over a month since I last posted and I’m really sorry about that. I’ve been away, in France, making disconnections, and my head has been full of nearly everything except music.
Some of you will know, but may will not, that myself and Peter have a small house in France. It’s in a beautiful town called St. Geniez D’Olt in Aveyron. We’ve had some wonderful times there and for 3 years we split our time between living in France and living back here in Australia on the boat (moving from summer to summer).
Sadly, we’ve decided that we need to sell the house as our lifestyle has now changed meaning that we can’t be as mobile as we used to be. By selling though, it does open up new opportunities for us to buy something here in Tasmania – a retreat from the boat when we feel we need it – and so that’s something exciting to look forward to.
Anyway, what all this has meant is that for the past 4 weeks I’ve been in France, taming the garden which had turned into a jungle, sorting our possessions and arranging to have them shipped back to Australia, getting the house ready to sell, and putting it on the market.
I am very grateful to a girlfriend who came with me to help. I would have found it very daunting on my own, and it is amazing what we were able to achieve in the 4 weeks. It’s possible that we already have a buyer, so I’m just keeping my fingers crossed.
We were able to take one or two days out as a break from the work – the local scenery is just breathtaking! Here is a photo of me at the Tarn Gorge.
And, here is a photo of our lovely house (with the green shutters) and views over St Geniez D’Olt.
Also, if you click on the link below you’ll be able to watch a video I took of the inside of the house for prospective buyers. I still need to edit it further (Peter tells me I spent far too long in the washroom looking at the laundry area – LOL – isn’t that important?). Hopefully though, it will give you a glimpse of our lovely home there.
I only got back to Tasmania on Sunday, and I’m still recovering from jetlag, but I’m hoping that from next week I can start turning my head once again to my music and in particular to pick up where I left off with the recording of my second album.
I’ll let you know how I’m getting on next time I write.
So, until next time, take care
Laini xx
