Upside-down Bikini Tree

This has been a momentous week. After many hours I have finallly finished the vocal recordings on my new album, Mike Raine has mixed and mastered and it’s soon ready to be released. His arrangements are just wonderful and could be album tracks in their own right – I feel very lucky to be able to work with him. So, just the artwork to be completed and and then I’ll be able to share the first single from it with you. I’m very excited.

In the meantime, I thought I’d share a little poem I wrote whilst looking out of the dining room window at our neighbours tree. I hope it brings a smile to your face.

UPSIDE-DOWN BIKINI TREE

Sitting at the dining table
Looking out the window
See an upside down bikini on a tree
It’s faded pink and yellow stripes
Conceal the point where legs divide
2 slender branches reaching to the sky

It’s trunk descends beneath it
With sunburnt skin that’s peeling
Then plunges down behind a wooden fence
I know it’s head is buried there
A mass of roots, like wind blown hair
A platform for it’s body in the air

And as I turn my head away
And think about my thoughts
I find myself smiling to myself
To realise this simple tree
Bikini clad for modesty
Could give me this delightful reverie
